Greetings from Fred & Karen:

We have one planting of large Crimson Sweet Red Watermelons ready for harvest now.  I have tried to limit myself to sampling or eating it only once each day, but unfortunately have not been able to hold myself back.

It is simply one of the best things of the summer for me, (I suppose it is not the worse thing in the world to have such an affliction).  It makes the coming cooler weather and shorter day lengths acceptable, but just barely.  I figured it’d be best to include a portion in everyone’s CSA share as soon as possible before I personally ate more than my half of the field.  Because some of them are quite large, you’ll have to cut sections for every CSA member this week to divide up the shares properly.

Be well,

Fred & Karen

PS.  On your distribution list, you’ll note that the partials will get a quarter section of the large watermelons as compared to the full shares getting a half.  That is what we expect to harvest, so unless it comes out differently, please plan on bringing another large knife to the distribution site to facilitate dividing up the shares of melon.
